I have been coming to Optimum health since May 2008 for both sports therapy and fitness classes with Rosie. However, from the beginning of 2013 I started attending Rosie’s Pilates class due to an ongoing back and hip problem I’d had for about ten years, mostly brought on by too much time sitting in an office.
I can honestly say that the Pilates above everything else has enabled me to overcome the pain from both of these injuries, but more than that, the classes have meant that when they do recur, due an extended car journey or too much sitting, doing a little extra Pilates clears up the problem immediately.
I have tried various other instructors over the past twenty years and been a little put off by somewhat strenuous workouts – Rosie’s classes are not like this. Every movement is so well considered to avoid any injury due to her incredible knowledge of the human body and how each and every muscle has cause and effect.
If you have a particular problem area or injury, she will always give you an alternative movement to ensure you do not exacerbate the matter.
Having said that, you always feel as if you’ve worked really hard and the physical results speak for themselves. The muscle tone and the strengthening of the core makes such a difference as you get older and you find that this will make you so much more stable on your feet and improved at any other sport you do.
I can’t imagine not doing Pilates, it’s just become part of my daily routine even if I can only fit in 15 minutes, but classes are much more enjoyable as you tend to put just that little more effort into it.
